More Republicans have favorable view of Trump than Haley: Survey

More Republicans have a favorable view of Donald Trump over Nikki Haley, according to a recent poll.

The YouGov poll found that 45 percent of Americans have a “very favorable” or “somewhat favorable” opinion of the former president, while only 34 percent said the same about the former U.N. ambassador.

Haley and Trump, the remaining major candidates in the GOP presidential primary, have taken multiple swipes at each other in recent weeks, including an ad from Haley titled, “Grumpy Old Men Say What,” in which she goes after Trump and President Biden for their age.

The poll also found more Americans view Trump as more authentic than Haley, with 30 percent saying the former president is more authentic than the former South Carolina governor versus 20 percent saying Haley is more authentic than Trump.

However, more Americans view Haley as compassionate. Twenty-seven percent said Haley is more compassionate than Trump, while 23 percent said Trump is more compassionate than Haley.

Last week, Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform that anyone who contributes to Haley would be “permanently barred from the MAGA camp.”

“Anybody that makes a ‘Contribution’ to Birdbrain, from this moment forth, will be permanently barred from the MAGA camp,” he wrote, using a nickname he uses for Haley. “We don’t want them, and will not accept them, because we Put America First, and ALWAYS WILL!”

Haley fundraised off of the donor threat, including by way of a T-shirt that reads “Barred. Permanently.”

“Enough said…Grab your shirt here!” Haley said in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, linking to a site where supporters can donate $5 to get the shirt.

The YouGov poll was conducted between Jan. 24 and 30 and featured 1,000 U.S. adults as respondents and has a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.
